Supplemental Beta Terms.

1. Scope and Microsoft Store terms

These Supplemental Beta Terms are an agreement between you and RootsLanding LLC and apply to RootsLanding Beta software and temporary Beta hosting. The applicable Microsoft terms also apply when you obtain the Beta through the Microsoft Store. These terms supplement, and do not replace, those Microsoft terms.

RootsLanding Beta is separate from the commercial RootsLanding for Windows purchase and commercial hosting subscriptions described in the RootsLanding Terms of Use. Obtaining or using the Beta does not purchase the commercial software or a commercial hosting subscription.

2. Prerelease software and feedback

RootsLanding Beta is prerelease Windows software provided for testing and feedback. It may contain errors, incomplete features, or behavior that changes before a commercial release. You may provide candid feedback, problem reports, and suggestions, and you permit RootsLanding LLC to use that feedback to test, maintain, improve, and develop RootsLanding without an obligation to implement it or compensate you. This permission does not transfer ownership of family materials submitted only to demonstrate a problem.

3. Temporary free Beta hosting

While the temporary Beta program is active, eligible Beta users may receive up to 20 GB of Beta hosting at no charge. This is a temporary Beta benefit, not a paid subscription, permanent entitlement, or promise of future availability. RootsLanding LLC may change, suspend, or end Beta hosting or the Beta program, including its features, capacity, and eligibility.

If Beta hosting changes or ends, a hosted Digital Family Home may become unavailable and hosted files may be deleted after any notice or transition period RootsLanding LLC chooses to provide. Do not rely on Beta hosting as the only copy of family materials.

4. Local files and backups

Your source files remain yours. RootsLanding Beta may create local copies and generated website files when you use supported features. Keep the local Digital Family Home and independent backups of irreplaceable family materials. Copies on the same computer and temporary Beta hosting do not replace an independent backup.

5. Content, privacy, and acceptable use

You are responsible for the content you choose to add, publish, or share and for confirming that you have the needed rights and permissions. The Privacy Policy describes relevant data practices, and hosted Digital Family Homes are subject to the Published Content Policy. You may not use the Beta or Beta hosting to violate law or another person's rights, interfere with related systems, bypass access controls, introduce malicious code, or create a material privacy or safety risk.

6. Availability, disclaimers, and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RootsLanding Beta and Beta hosting are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, uninterrupted operation, feature continuity, or data preservation.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RootsLanding LLC and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss or corruption of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from the Beta. These terms do not limit rights or liability that applicable law does not allow to be limited or excluded.

7. Changes and contact

RootsLanding LLC may update these terms prospectively as the Beta program, product, services, or legal requirements change. Continued use after updated terms take effect means the updated terms apply to that continued use.
